The New York Yankees’ “Chase for 28” will resume once again in 2021, and they’ll be going into the new season as the favorites in the American League.

According to multiple sportsbooks, the Yankees will open up next year as the team to beat in the A.L., besting the Rays, White Sox, Twins and Athletics among the top five.

The Dodgers are considered to be the overall favorites by a slim margin following their 2020 World Series championship earlier this week, and there’s little doubt they’ll be back to mount a strong title defense next season with a star-studded group.

The MLB offseason could play a major role in determining which teams will spend the dollars to bolster their rosters with top-end free agents and which teams will ultimately go in a different direction after the 2020 season posed a major revenue drop-off for clubs.

After the Dodgers, the next four N.L. clubs with the best odds to win it all next year are the Braves, Padres, Cubs and Reds.

The three teams with the longest shot at achieving the unthinkable are the Tigers, Royals and Pirates, all of whom ranked among the worst teams in baseball this past season.

Every oddsmaker will have slightly varying lines so some teams might be considered more promising than others, but no matter how you shake it the Yankees and Dodgers remain the teams to beat as next season approaches.
