In the Triple-A phase of the 2024 Rule 5 Draft, the Yankees selected OF Luis Durango in the first round from Cleveland.
Durango, 21, has hit .253 (145-for-574) with 118 runs, 18 doubles, four triples, three home runs, 47 RBI, 68 walks and 87 stolen bases in 181 games over four Minor League seasons in the Cleveland Guardians organization (2021-24). In 2024, the left-handed batter hit .250 (33-for-132) with 25 runs, six doubles, one triple, 14 RBI, nine walks and 21 stolen bases in 41 games with Single-A Lynchburg. The Panamá City, Panamá, native was originally signed by Cleveland as a non-drafted free agent on July 2, 2019.
Additionally, Cincinnati selected LHP Joel Valdez (first round), St. Louis selected LHP Oddanier Mosqueda (first round), Atlanta selected RHP Blane Abeyta (first round), Pittsburgh selected OF Joel Méndez (fifth round) and Philadelphia selected RHP Gabriel Barbosa (fifth round) from the Yankees in the Triple-A phase.
