2019: The inning that keeps on giving

Tied at five going into the bottom of the sixth against the Rays, the Yankees score three runs before they even record a hit. Brett Gardner leads off and hits a grounder to Rays reliever Diego Castillo who deflects the ball and is charged with an error. Five walks, a new pitcher (Ryne Stanek) and another error later, the Yankees are up, 8-5. Casey Sandler comes in as the third Tampa Bay pitcher of the inning and surrenders a base-loaded double to pinch-hitter Thairo Estrada and then another RBI double to Brett Gardner. The Yankees take a12-5 lead before the bleeding stops and go on to win, 13-5.

1998: Benitez beanball begins brawl with Bombers

After giving up an eighth-inning three-run homer to Bernie Williams, Armando Benitez nails Tino Martinez between the shoulder blades and touches off a brawl. Graeme Lloyd races in from the Yankees bullpen to punch the O's closer, and Alan Mills bloodies Darryl Strawberry’s face after the New York outfielder ends up in the Baltimore dugout trying to also get a shot at Benitez. After order was restored, Benitez, Lloyd, Mills, Strawberry and Jeff Nelson were all ejected. Tim Raines, the next batter up, hits a two-run blast off Bobby Munoz. The Yankees win, 9-5.

1953: Bauer power tames Tigers

Tied, 2-2, in the bottom of the 11th against the Tigers, Mickey Mantle leads off with a double off Detroit starter Ted Gray. He is followed by Hank Bauer, who crushes a homer to left for the walk-off win. It was the second of three consecutive walk-off wins for the Yankees. Johnny Sain threw an 11-inning complete game for the Bombers.
