Sabrina Ionescu and Courtney Vandersloot to represent Liberty in 2023 Kia WNBA Skills Challenge on July 14

NEW YORK – JULY 11, 2023 – The WNBA announced that Liberty All-Star guards Sabrina Ionescu and Courtney Vandersloot have been selected to represent New York in the 2023 Kia WNBA Skills Challenge on Friday, July 14 at Michelob ULTRA Arena as part of All-Star Weekend in Las Vegas.

Ionescu, the contest’s reigning champion and only player leaguewide averaging 15+ points, five-plus assists, and five-plus boards, will make her second consecutive appearance. Vandersloot, the WNBA’s leader in assists (8.5 APG), will make her third consecutive appearance.

The Liberty’s backcourt duo will compete in the 2023 Kia WNBA Skills Challenge as partners, taking on opposing pairs of All-Stars from the Las Vegas Aces, Atlanta Dream, and Dallas Wings. The full list of participants is below:

  • Team Aces (Las Vegas): Chelsea Gray & Kelsey Plum
  • Team Dream (Atlanta): Allisha Gray & Cheyenne Parker
  • Team Wings (Dallas): Arike Ogunbowale & Satou Sabally

The WNBA STARRY® 3-Point Contest and Kia WNBA Skills Challenge will air on ESPN on Friday, July 14 at 4 p.m. ET. Ionescu and Vandersloot will join Liberty forward and Team Stewart captain, Breanna Stewart, in the 2023 AT&T WNBA All-Star Game on Saturday, July 15 on ABC at 8:30 p.m. ET.
