More than 2,500 from coast to coast to Sleep Out for youth experiencing homelessness Thursday, Nov. 18

Covenant House event will include Yankee Senior Vice President & General Manager Brian Cashman, along with participating corporate teams from Cisco, Accenture, Morgan Stanley and Delta, celebrities and individuals and families from across the country to raise funds and awareness for youth experiencing homelessness.

On Nov.18, in a powerful show of support and solidarity for youth overcoming homelessness, business leaders, celebrities, individuals and families from all walks of life will step out of their homes to participate either virtually or in-person at Covenant House programs to sleep on the streets for one night.

“Some 4.2 million young people will experience homelessness this year,” said Covenant House President & CEO Kevin Ryan. “Participating in this Global Covenant House Sleep Out, or joining us at one of our Covenant House programs across the country supports our frontline staff as they do their quietly heroic work of keeping our young people safe and loved.”

The Covenant House Virtual Global Sleep Out will bring participants together virtually for a night of solidarity and fundraising to support young people facing homelessness. Participants can sleep out from anywhere — a backyard, porch, terrace, garage, kitchen floor, or car, so long as it's safe and legal — and raise urgently needed funds for Covenant House, spread awareness about the youth homelessness crisis, and send a powerful message of solidarity to our youth.

In addition, at 17 Covenant House programs across the country, participants will sleep out at the Covenant House locations. “It is only through nights of advocacy like this that we can not only keep our doors open 24/7, but to grow to meet the increasing need for services,” said Ryan. “Every night, over 2,000 young people sleep safely at Covenant House. In the past 12 months, in the midst of a pandemic, we have opened 8 new programs and 138 additional beds. But there is so much need, and on November 18 we will rally with our young people as they pursue the great promise of their lives.”

“This will mark my 11th consecutive Covenant House Sleep Out, and I become even more passionate about Covenant’s mission with each passing year,” said Brian Cashman, New York Yankees Senior Vice President & General Manager and Covenant House International Board Member. “Covenant House cares for some of society’s most vulnerable and marginalized young people, providing them with safe harbor, hope, and opportunities otherwise out of reach. I’ve seen it time and again – the effect Covenant House has on young people is literally life-altering, and I’m proud to support them any way I can. I urge everyone to consider contributing to this initiative and to think about how they can impact the issue of youth homelessness.”
