YANKEES ACQUIRE RHP SEAN PAUL LIÑAN

The New York Yankees today announced that they have acquired minor league right-handed pitcher Sean Paul Liñan from the Washington Nationals in exchange for INF Jorbit Vivas.

Liñan, 21, combined to go 3-4 with one save and a 3.03 ERA (77.1IP, 54H, 30R/26ER, 33BB, 106K, 5HR) in 19 games (15 starts) with Single-A Rancho Cucamonga, High-A Great Lakes and Triple-A Oklahoma City in the Los Angeles Dodgers organization and High-A Wilmington in the Washington Nationals organization in 2025. The right-handed pitcher began last season in the Dodgers organization and was acquired by the Nationals along with RHP Eriq Swan in exchange for OF Alex Call on July 31, 2025.

This past season, Liñan earned California League “Pitcher of the Month” honors in April after going 2-1 with a 1.40 ERA (25.2IP, 13H, 4R/ER, 6BB, 45K, 1HR) in five games (four starts) with Rancho Cucamonga.

Over parts of four minor league seasons in the Los Angeles Dodgers (2022-25) and Washington Nationals (2025) organizations, Liñan has gone 16-9 with two saves and a 3.62 ERA (209.0IP, 173H, 95R/84ER, 81BB, 269K, 15HR) in 65 games (26 starts). The Cartagena, Colombia, native was originally signed by Los Angeles-NL as a non-drafted free agent on January 15, 2022.

Vivas, 25, saw his first Major League action in 2025 with the Yankees, hitting .161 (9-for-56) with 6R, 2 doubles, 1HR, 5RBI, 5BB and 3HP in 29 games. He spent the majority of the season with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, hitting .270 (101-for-374) with 59R, 21 doubles, 1 triple, 4HR, 43RBI, 64BB/1IBB, 11HP, 4SF and 12SB in 100 games. Over parts of seven minor league seasons in the Los Angeles Dodgers (2018-19, ’21-23) and Yankees (2024-25) organizations, Vivas has batted .271 (683-for-2,521) with 442R, 138 doubles, 21 triples, 52HR, 352RBI, 344BB and 94SB in 675 games. The Puerto Cabello, Venezuela, native was originally signed by the Dodgers as a non-drafted free agent on July 4, 2017. He was acquired by the Yankees from the Los Angeles-NL along with LHP Victor González in exchange for INF Trey Sweeney on December 11, 2023.
