BROOKLYN (May 24, 2021) – During the first weekend of the 2021 NBA Playoffs, Barclays Center opened Brooklyn Style, the new official retail store for the Brooklyn Nets and New York Liberty. The space is more than 4,000 square feet - double the size of the arena’s previous team store.
Brooklyn Style was designed with a retail-first approach and minimalistic aesthetic, putting an enhanced focus on the products, and giving the space an elevated look. Additionally, the store’s interior layout design and fixtures were built for ease of shopping during anticipated high-traffic, sold-out basketball games and other events. Brooklyn Style was designed by architects from Food New York, whose notable work includes Off-White stores in New York, Hong Kong, Tokyo and Singapore.
“We believe Brooklyn Style has the ability to redefine the team store experience and deliver a best-in-class shopping environment by pulling from key elements seen in modern retail,” said Michael Wandell, Chief Commercial Officer for BSE Global. “Our vision for our new team store was a clean, modern design that can accommodate the large crowds at games and we are thrilled that Brooklyn Style will make that possible. Opening during the NBA Playoffs and the start of the Liberty’s first season in Brooklyn makes this moment even more special.”
Brooklyn Style is accessible to the public from Flatbush Avenue and to ticketed guests from the main concourse inside Barclays Center. Its design also brings in features from the arena’s exterior with an outer glass façade mimicked on the interior concourse and the spaces’ structural I-beams left exposed to bring in the industrial feel that is synonymous with Brooklyn.
“Our main goal was to open the store, and really a piece of Barclays Center, to the neighborhood outside. It’s a super simple, clean design that we wanted to stand out from the rest of the arena and become a new attraction for the fans,” said Dong-Ping Wong, Director at Food New York.
The retail space was also created to serve as a place for brands and partners to host future activations. With completely modular fixtures affixed from the ceiling, Brooklyn Style can easily be reimagined to host non-retail moments and activations. To celebrate the store’s grand opening, Snipes is hosting the first in-store activation – the “Snipes Fit Challenge.” Fans can enter to win up to $1,000 from Snipes by visiting Brooklyn Style now through May 25 to show off their Brooklyn swag in the #SNIPESFIT photobooth. Contest participants must also follow @snipes_usa and @brooklynets on Instagram, and share the picture on their social media channels to be considered.
Additionally, Brooklyn Style will feature Express Local Delivery powered by DoorDash Drive, DoorDash’s white-label fulfillment platform that powers direct delivery for any business. This is available on select items for customers located within a three-mile radius of Barclays Center. Customers interested in Express Local Delivery can visit www.NetsStore.com, add eligible items to their shopping cart and select DoorDash as their preferred shipping method. The first 300 customers to spend $125 and select DoorDash Express Local Delivery will receive a complimentary, limited-edition Brooklyn Style reusable tote bag.
Brooklyn Style will serve as the destination for official Brooklyn Nets Playoff gear including the “Nets Level” Mantra T-Shirt, and is now open daily from noon – 5 p.m. On event days, the store will close early to the public and remain open only for ticketed guests. Customers who spend $125 or more in the store will also receive the complimentary, limited-edition Brooklyn Style reusable tote bag while supplies last.
