Yankees left-hander Zack Britton was sent for an MRI on Monday after experiencing left elbow soreness during his most recent bullpen session, manager Aaron Boone said on Tuesday.
The team is waiting on the results of that examination, and Boone said that it is possible Britton -- who has yet to appear in a game this spring -- will not be available for the April 1 season opener against the Blue Jays.
“He threw a bullpen a couple of days ago,” Boone said. “Everything went well with the bullpen, but he had some soreness the day after, so we’ve put him through some tests. He’ll meet with the doctor to see just where we’re at on all that.”
