March 13, 2025, New York, N.Y.: Sportico, the leading voice of authority on the business of sports, and YES Network, the nation’s pre-eminent regional sports network, announced the launch of Sportico Sports Business Presented by Genius Sports, a new monthly sports business series co-produced by the YES Network. The series will premiere on the YES Network and on The Gotham Sports App on Tuesday, March 18, at 10:30 pm ET immediately following YES’ Brooklyn Nets post-game show.
The series will provide the latest and most pertinent sports business news and analysis, along with interviews with the most influential voices in the industry. Lorenz will be joined every episode by Sportico’s deep roster of reporters and editors who are skilled at breaking stories and offering expert commentary.
The premiere episode will feature interviews with RedBird Capital Partners Founder, Managing Partner and Chief Investment Officer Gerry Cardinale and Basketball Hall-of-Famer and investor Grant Hill, and commentary from Sportico’s Editor-in-Chief Scott Soshnick and deputy editor Eben Novy-Williams.
RedBird Capital Partners manages $12 billion of equity on behalf of a select group of blue-chip institutional and family office investors. Gerry Cardinale, the firm’s Founder, Managing Partner and Chief Investment Officer, oversees its investment strategies and company-building activities across the sports, media, entertainment, and financial services sectors. Under his leadership, RedBird’s portfolio includes Fenway Sports Group (Boston Red Sox, Liverpool FC, Pittsburgh Penguins, New England Sports Network), the YES Network, Skydance Media, The Springhill Company (LeBron James and Maverick Carter), the UFL (FOX, Disney, Dwayne Johnson and his partner Dany Garcia) and European football’s A.C. Milan.
After earning All-American honors twice and winning two NCAA Championships while at Duke, Grant Hill was drafted third overall in the 1994 NBA Draft by the Detroit Pistons. He launched Hill Ventures, Inc., a marketing and management company, in 1994 to provide oversight of his unique business activities and marketing relationships. Hill also started a private equity mezzanine fund, Penta Capital. In addition, he is part owner and Vice Chair of the Board of the Atlanta Hawks, part owner of Orlando City SC and an investor in the Orlando Pride and Baltimore Orioles.
“This new series combines the unique expertise and resources of two leading sports business brands,” said Jared Boshnack, Executive Producer and Vice President, Production, the YES Network. “It will provide sports fans with an insider’s look at the deals, and the movers and shakers, transforming the world of sports today.”
“We're beyond thrilled to partner with the YES Network on the Sportico Sports Business series,” said Scott Soshnick, Editor-in-Chief of Sportico. “It's the perfect combination of insightful journalism and broadcasting excellence.
