BALTIMORE - The New York Yankees announced prior to Monday's game against the Orioles that they have recalled infielder/outfielder Tyler Wade from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
The move gives the Yankees 31 active players.

Wade, 22, has split this season between Triple-A and the Majors, hitting .135 in 21 games with the Yankees and .310 with seven home runs and 31 RBI in 85 games with the RailRiders. He has played six positions total this season, including second base, shortstop, third base, and all three outfield spots.

The former fourth-round pick was not called up immediately when rosters expanded on Sept. 1 because he was not yet eligible; Wade had been optioned to Triple-A on August 25, and per MLB rules, he was not eligible to return (unless recalled to replace an injured player) until Monday.
