Yankees add RHP Yerry De Los Santos, catcher J.C. Escarra and outfielder Taylor Trammell to roster

Today the Yankees added RHP Yerry De Los Santos, C J.C. Escarra and OF Taylor Trammell to the 40-man roster.

De Los Santos, 26, went 2-2 with four saves and a 4.12 ERA (59.0 IP, 66 H, 35 R/27 ER, 19 BB, 55 K, nine HR) in 51 games (one start) with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre this past season. His 51 appearances ranked second among Yankees farmhands. Over parts of eight Minor League seasons in the Pittsburgh Pirates (2015, ’17-19, ’21-23) and Yankees (2024) organizations, the right-handed pitcher has gone 14-16 with 24 saves and a 3.33 ERA (259.1 IP, 263 H, 125 R/96 ER, 82 BB, 257 K, 20 HR) in 170 games (15 starts). De Los Santos has made 48 career Major League relief appearances over parts of two seasons with Pittsburgh (2022-23), going 1-4 with three saves and a 4.14 ERA (50.0 IP, 39 H, 28 R/23 ER, 24 BB, 44 K, four HR). The Samana, D.R., native was originally signed by Pittsburgh as a non-drafted free agent on July 2, 2014. He was signed by the Yankees as a Minor League free agent on Nov. 17, 2023.

Escarra, 29, combined with Double-A Somerset (72 games) and Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre (52 games) to hit .261 (111-for-426) with 77 runs, 32 doubles, three triples, 12 home runs, 64 RBIs, 55 walks and three stolen bases in 124 games last season. Among Yankees farmhands, he ranked first in doubles, was tied for second in runs scored, third in extra-base hits (47), fourth in hits and fifth in total bases (185). Escarra appeared defensively in 2024 at catcher (59 G/58 GS), first base (27 G/27 GS), third base (19 G/17 GS), left field (three G/three GS) and right field (three G/three GS). Over parts of five Minor League seasons in the Baltimore Orioles (2017-19, ’21) and Yankees (2024) organizations, Escarra has hit .249 (394-for-1,583) with 227 runs, 90 doubles, eight triples, 42 home runs, 231 RBIs, 210 walks and 12 stolen bases in 467 games. The Hialeah, Fla., native was originally selected by Baltimore in the 15th round of the 2017 First-Year Player Draft out of Florida International University. Escarra was signed by the Yankees as a Minor League free agent on Jan. 11, 2024.

Trammell, 27, played in 10 combined games with the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Yankees in 2024 (1-for-7, two R, one BB). He spent the majority of the season with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, hitting .256/.381/.488 (86-for-336) with 65 runs, 20 doubles, two triples, 18 home runs, 63 RBIs, 63 walks and 20 stolen bases. His 18 home runs were tied for fourth among Yankees farmhands. Over parts of four Major League seasons with the Seattle Mariners (2021-23), Los Angeles Dodgers (2024) and Yankees (2024), the outfielder has hit .167 (52-for-311) with 47 runs, 16 doubles, 15 home runs, 39 RBIs, 40 walks and four stolen bases. He has appeared defensively at all three outfield positions in his Major League career (center field – 45 G/38 GS, right field – 37 G/29 GS, left field – 32 G/24 GS). The Powder Springs, Ga., native was originally selected by the Cincinnati Reds in Competitive Balance Round A (35th overall) of the 2016 First-Year Player Draft. Trammell was claimed off waivers by the Yankees from the Dodgers on April 18, 2024.
