Cam Johnson to compete in 3-Point Contest at All-Star weekend

BROOKLYN (Feb. 7, 2025) – The NBA announced that Brooklyn Nets forward Cam Johnson has been selected to participate in the Starry 3-Point Contest during State Farm All-Star Saturday Night at NBA All-Star 2025. The event begins at 8 p.m. EST on Saturday, Feb. 15, at Chase Center in San Francisco and will be broadcast on TNT and TruTV.

This season, Johnson is averaging career highs in 3-pointers made per game (3.2) and 3-pointers attempted per game (7.7). Among 36 players averaging at least seven 3-point attempts per contest, Johnson ranks fourth in the league and first in the Eastern Conference in 3-point percentage (41.7 percent). He is tied for third in the NBA in catch-and-shoot triples per game (2.4), and his 3-point field goal percentage on those attempts (42.6 percent) ranks third in the league among those averaging at least five such attempts per game (minimum 30 games played). Johnson drained 96 3-pointers across his first 30 appearances this season, trailing only Joe Harris (98) for the most makes from beyond the arc in a players’ first 30 games to begin a season in franchise history. He has drilled at least one 3-pointer in 52 consecutive games dating back to last season (Feb. 24, 2024, through Feb. 5, 2025), which is good for the third-longest active span in the league and the fourth-longest by a Net all-time. Johnson also made at least one trey in each of his first 55 games as a Net (Feb. 11, 2023, through Jan. 11, 2024), making him the only player in team history with multiple streaks of 50 or more contests with a 3-pointer made.

The Moon Township, Pa., native is on pace for single-season career highs in various statistical categories, including points per game (19.3), assists per game (2.9) and minutes per game (32.1). His field goal percentage (48.8 percent), effective field goal percentage (61 percent) and free-throw percentage (90.2 percent – fourth in the NBA) are all career bests while averaging career-high shot volumes from the floor (13.1), from deep and from the free-throw line (3.7). Since Nov. 1 (31 games played), Johnson has averaged 20.1 points per game on 50.1 percent shooting from the floor, 42.5 percent shooting from beyond the arc and 90.9 percent shooting from the free-throw line, joining Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving as the only players in team history to average more than 20 points per game while shooting at least 50 percent from the field, 40 percent from 3-point range and 90 percent from the free-throw line in a 30-game span. He has already set a single-season career high in free-throws made (119) and is on track to become the third Net in franchise history to shoot 90 percent or better from the charity stripe in a qualifying season. The 28-year-old has also tallied career highs in 20-point games (16) and 30-point performances (three). Overall, Johnson has appeared in 36 games this season and owns averages of 19.3 points, four rebounds and 2.9 assists over 32.1 minutes per game while shooting 48.8 percent from the field, 41.7 percent from distance and 90.2 percent from the free-throw line.

Johnson will be the sixth Net to participate in the 3-Point Contest, joining Patty Mills (2022), Joe Harris (2020 and 2019), Joe Johnson (2014), Anthony Morrow (2012) and Dražen Petrović (1992). Harris is the only Net to win the competition, earning the top spot during NBA All-Star 2019 in Charlotte, N.C.
