The New York Yankees announced that they have acquired Minor League right-handed pitcher Michael Arias from the Chicago Cubs in exchange for cash considerations.

Arias, 23, combined to go 6-2 with five saves and a 4.77 ERA (60.1IP, 64H, 34R/32ER, 48BB, 72K, 5HR) in 49 relief appearances with Double-A Tennessee (16G) and Triple-A Iowa (33G) in 2024. His 49 appearances were tied for the most among Cubs farmhands last season. The right-handed pitcher began the 2024 season with Tennessee before being promoted to Iowa on May 29. Arias was designated for assignment by Chicago-NL on Jan. 12, 2025.

Over four Minor League seasons in the Cubs organization (2021-24), Arias has gone 11-17 with eight saves and a 4.25 ERA (182.0IP, 155H, 96R/86ER, 135BB, 227K, 12HR) in 97 games (32 starts).

The Santo Domingo, D.R., native was originally signed by the Toronto Blue Jays as a non-drafted free agent on July 4, 2018. He was released by Toronto on May 29, 2020, and signed a Minor League contract with Chicago-NL on Jan. 15, 2021.
