BROOKLYN – The Brooklyn Nets have re-signed guard/forward Trendon Watford. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not released.
Watford (6’9”, 241) originally signed with Brooklyn as a free agent on Aug. 3, 2023, appearing in 63 games (two starts) in the 2023-24 season, averaging 6.9 points, 3.1 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 13.6 minutes per game. Watford shot 52.7 percent from the field and notched career high shooting percentages from 3-point range (39.7 percent) and the free-throw line (79.4 percent). The Birmingham, Ala., native reached double figures 17 times, including eight times in the final 11 games of the season. Across those 11 games, Watford recorded averages of 12.9 points, 5.7 rebounds and 2.2 assists in 25.4 minutes per contest while shooting 54.1 percent from the field and 44.0 percent from distance. In 173 games (24 starts) in three seasons with Brooklyn and Portland (2021-23), the 23-year-old has registered averages of 7.3 points, 3.6 rebounds and 1.7 assists in 16.8 minutes per game while shooting 54.1 percent from the field, 35.9 percent from 3-point range and 75.6 percent from the free-throw line. Prior to going undrafted in the 2021 NBA Draft, Watford spent two years (2019-21) at Louisiana State University where he earned All-SEC Freshman Team honors in 2020 and All-SEC Second Team accolades as a sophomore in 2021.
